Novi
Velia is a picturesque medieval village structure, located in the
southern part of the Cilento, 648 meters above sea level along the
country road that Vallo della Lucania (just 3 km) leads to the summit of
Mount Gelbison in 1705 meters
of altitude, where there is the Shrine of Madonna del Monte Sacro, site of a nature trail, prepared by Association "Guides of the
Park." This
is a route to be addressed along 7 kilometers with an elevation gain of
about 1,000 meters, between the clear waters of springs and streams,
chestnut and beech forests through which you can immerse yourself a
world where nature and sacredness merge into a single unit of great suggestion.
Even
in the center of the village of Novi Velia there are opportunities to

Longobardi, built between 1200 and 1300 in the Romanesque style was

mozzarella "ri murtedde" (mid-August) devoted to particular mozzarella
born from the ancient custom of preserving the mozzarella sticks for "mortedda", vernacular
name of myrtle, which imparts a particularly pleasant; Fair of the
Assunta (August 13) fair market, Palio dei Rioni (August 14), Our Lady
of the Assumption (August 15), San Rocco (August 16), San Nicola (August
17), Birth of Maria (September 8) religious festivals, The Emigrant's
Day (August 19), and finally, the Festival of the Ancient Sounds Cilento
(3, 4 and 5 September - twelfth edition), a unique event that gathers
all who
play the bagpipes, bagpipes, guitars flying, accordions and flutes
